Charles Goemaere is the Director of Economic and Legal Affairs and Member of the Executive Leadership Board at Comite Interprofessionnel du Vin de Champagne - Comité Champagne (Epernay, France), a trade association that represents the collective interests of all Champagne producers and growers, including economic regulation, technical development, worldwide promotion and protection of Champagne wines.
Mr. Goemaere is in charge of managing worldwide campaign to protect Champagne PDO and represents Comité Champagne in front of French, European and foreign governments to improve the scope of protection of Champagne PDO, remove tariff and non-tariff barriers and implement Champagne’s specific economic regulation system. He supervises all economic and legal affairs for the region (market surveys, implementation of Champagne economic regulation system and legal assistance to Champagne producers and growers), and manages multiple strategic projects including: strategic study «Champagne 2030», region-wide transition to paperless documents and anti-fraud and traceability projects.
Mr. Goemaere is also a National Expert for International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV – Paris, France) and member of International Wine Law Association (AIDV).
He holds Master’s degree in Intellectual Property law (Aix – Marseille III, France), Bachelor’s degree in commercial law (Paris I – Sorbonne, France) and is the fellow of ERASMUS program: International and European law (Cologne, Germany).
